You may not notice it, but there are drafts in your home. There can be severe loss of efficiency of the heating and cooling of your home. Baseboard sealing is one of those things. Careful application of a flexible caulk that is an appropriate color where the baseboard meets the floor can be major help. Even on newer houses, the seasonal expansion and contraction of the house leads to imperfections and air flow and possibly insect invasion. We aren't talking a major bead of silicone here, just a very thin bead, smoothed out (this helps push it in the crevice). Of course, we wouldn't put it on the carpeted areas.
